I use Alka Seltzer Gold. I'm allergic to aspirin (which is an ingredient in regular Alka Seltzer) but Gold doesn't have it. Gold is hard to find, so when I saw Heartburn in the store I grabbed it up. It's flavored with lemon-lime and a large dose of artificial sweetener. Gold has basically no sweeteners. As for the comparison with Tums. I use Tums when my stomach burns. But, when I have indigestion that feels like a rock in my stomach, Alka Seltzer breaks it up and lets it "move on". I use it to alleviate indigestion, not heart burn or acid reflux. That's my method anyway.
