Wow... it must be hard to come up with such insightful descriptions of 'Holiday' as:
"this song rocks!!!!!!!!!!!"
“This Song Rocks!!"
Or the ever popular:
"tHis SOnG RockZ!"
My favorite, though, was:
“THIS SONG IS CLASS X X X X X BUSH SUX COKS 4 THE USAâ€
Man... I bet no one over the age of 15 is posting here... and no one with an IQ over 15 either.
Yes, some of you got it, the song "holiday" is about the Bush administration... but more specifically, it is about the pre-war and wartime politics of said administration in relation to Iraq. If you can stop blindly repeating mommy and daddy’s view points for a few posts, then this might actually become a discussion.
How many of you would have understood that the song was about the Bush administration without the line “Zeig Heil to the president gasman?†I would say that the figure falls somewhere between ‘none’ and ‘slightly more than none’. Granted, the entire album (which is not even close to a soundtrack, you moron) is strongly anti-Bush, so it may have occurred to you… eventually…
Anyway – I, personally, am outraged at the way the American public has supported this hateful, war-mongering, big-business-centric administration. We have estranged our allies, been responsible for the taking of THOUSANDS of innocent lives (15-17 thousand Iraqi civilians), made the rich richer, and the poor poorer. The funny part is, the majority of people who voted for Bush in this past election cited moral issues like abortion and gay marriage as their primary reasons for re-electing him. This includes the middle and working class people who would gain from having a democratic administration. Basically saying, “Never mind that our boys are dying by the hundreds in Iraq, or that our children’s children could be paying down the national deficit… those damn gays want to get married! Vote Bush!†Opponents cited international issues like the war in Iraq, the diversion of troops from Afghanistan to Iraq, estrangement of allies, and the growing national deficit. This is exactly what Green Day is commenting on, especially in the song “American Idiotâ€. “Holiday†is much more of an anti-war song, commenting on the thousands of men, women, and children who have died as a direct result of the war in Iraq, and remain nameless to the average American. It comments on how protestors are fighting a futile effort against big-business and pro-war money, and how protestors are demonized as “unpatriotic†by people who think being a patriot means agreeing with every redneck who happens to become president. It illustrates the irony of the Christian right-wing, who sit around, believing that the war in Iraq was somehow sanctioned or approved of by God. (Can I get another Amen? There’s a flag wrapped around the score of men) Interesting… Stupid, but interesting…
It is simply a great political song… and just in case you can’t understand what I just wrote: I basically think that “this song rocks.†(I hope that spells it out for you clearly enough.)
