hi there. i have been in the diet for a month now. so far, i have lost 10 pounds. and my tummy isn't that bloated anymore. i never really felt any discomforts or anything. i am not looking forward to shed a lot of pounds quickly. i have no right to complain since i gained all these fat and weight slowly in 6 years. i am combining the 3 day diet with exercise and i am feeling much better right now. :) at least i know i am doing something good for myself. i trust the diet is healthy. i don't drink sodas anymore and drink plenty of water. i have made my friend who is a nutritionist review the diet and she says it's ok for me to take it. :) i've seen this diet worked for a lot of my friends and i believe only those who doesn't have discipline think this is a hoax. :) |

Starting the diet today. I did this about two years ago for six weeks and lost 15 lbs. Time to do it again. I would like to lose around 50 altogether. This time I am exercising 6 days a week so I can keep it off when I get to goal. I do three days of aerobics and three days of weight training. Do any of you drink creamer in your coffee on the three days? I just can't seem to give up my coffee and I wonder if that is why I usually only lose about 3 each week.

6 Days is very dangerous because it can cause your metabolism to go into "starvation mode" and then, when you go off the diet, it will automatically store all of the extra food you eat as fat. Three days is about the longest you can go without your body kicking into this state, which is the beginning of horrible yo-yo dieting. Trust me, stick to three and it will work without causing your body great harm. |

Hi
I have just finished the 3 day diet. I have been drinking lots of water and lots of coffee! Finished it but I was so hungry at the end of it I had to have a BISCUIT!
My cousins started the diet with me and they ended up raiding the biscuit tin on day 2 after dinner, but they are really slim anyway! The last meal I couldn't eat as it was too much. I was craving for something sweet! My cousins had really bad headaches. I just ran to the loo alot, with all the water that I drank ! |

I actually had the 3 day diet breakfast today, so I'm on my fourth day. Not hungry now, it's 2.38pm and I haven't had lunch yet. I have been cleaning alot and drinking lots of water - that really helps!
My cousins that did this diet got sore heads on the second night. I'm feeling quite good!
Would love to hear from you all x

Mel,
Wow! What great results. I usually only lose 1 1/2 to 2 pounds (14 pounds in a stone, I think). But I have been dieting for awhile so I think that is probably why I lose a little. But it is easy to follow so I do it three days a week each week for the last 3 weeks and have lost 5 pounds. I'm starting again tomorrow. |

I don't think so. Something about the chemicle make up of the foods and how they work together. But you could try it Hey its only three days. See if it works.
Hope that helps

I have been on the 3 day diet for 3 weeks. I started at 238, now Im at 228, on a 5'10 frame. Ive lost a total of 10 lbs. I do sometimes catch my self cheating. But not that bad, I have a bite of something I shouldn't have during the 3 days or have an extra serving of yougart or carrots. I don't mind losing the weight slowly, because according to the nutrition books .5-1 lb's a week is a healthy weight lose. I also exercise about 2-3 times a week.
Also I stretch my food out during the day, I don't have it at just at that particular time, plus I found a substition list somewhere on the net, because I can't handle beets, cottage cheese, and tuna. Well good luck to all of you.

I know you can substitute carrots for the beets. And the cottage cheese and tuna can be substituted for each other. For the cottage cheese try this -measure out the cup serving blend it in a blender with 1 equal or splenda and some cinnamon. It tastes really good and its not all lumpy. |

OK SUBSTITUTIONS (BUT NOT RECOMMENDED)
INSTEAD OF: HAVE:
grapefruit orange
tuna cottage cheese (visa versa)
icecream frozen yogurt
cauliflower broccoli (visa versa)
green beans broccoli or cauliflower
carrots beets (who would want that!)
toast 5 crackers (visa versa)
ONLY SUSTITUDE 2 OR 3 ITEMS PER WEEK!
OK ADD-ON'S(THESE ARE REALLY HELPFUL)
lemon (and lots of it, if you like), a dash of salt and/or pepper, mustard, cooking spray, sweet & low or equal, tea, coffee, water
NO NO'S (THESE WILL KILL THE DIET)
mayo, oil, butter, sugar, milk or creamers, sodas or other drinks with sugar, bread, ketchup, or anything else!

i did the diet last week and lost about 5lbs. I then ate like there was no tomorrow because I was away from home. I felt sick eating so much. In 4 days I had gained the weight back. I then wanted to start it again and sliced my middle finger open on the can of tuna. GREAT! I had to give up on it that day as I was too upset from the terrible ordeal of seeing so much blood and layers of flesh...sorry to the faint hearted. So I ate like a pig again that day. I started again yesterday and I've lost 3lbs I think. The thing is I had ham instead of the chicken, and ham again tonight instead of beef franks. I simply don't know where to find BEEF franks. Have I done wrong? By the way good luck to everyone else. |

Tara,
I think she must have meant extra bread. You must eat everything on the diet or the chemicle reaction won't occur that cause the weight loss.

Black coffee or tea
Dinner
3 slices of any meat (4-6 oz. before cooking)
1 cup of string beans & 1 cup beets
1 small apple
1 cup vanilla ice cream
Day 2:
Breakfast
1 egg
Half banana
1 slice toast
Lunch
1 cup cottage cheese
6 Saltine crackers
Dinner
2 hot dogs
1 cup broccoli & half cup carrots
Half banana
Half cup vanilla ice cream
Day 3:
Breakfast
5 Saltine crackers
1 slice cheddar cheese & 1 small apple
Lunch
1 hard-boiled egg & 1 slice toast
Dinner
1 cup of tuna, plain
1 cup beets & 1 cup cauliflower

I also drink 100 oz of water a day and I use vinegar, salt, pepper, mustard & equal. |

Hello, Im looking to start this diet tomorrow and I had a few questions. Does the toast have to be dry? Does it have to be 'beef' franks? Regarding the '3 slices of meat", does that mean deli meat or can it be a beef steak (lean, of course)?
BTW, much luck to you, Ali, and to all of us looking to shed a few. |

The toast should be dry. If you used a little I can't believe its not butter spray I don't think that would hurt. The veggies should be either fresh or frozen as canned have a lot of sodium. It can be 3 slices of any lean meat. I usually use chicken, roast beef, or lean steak. Hope that helps you. Good luck! |

I certainly wouldnt. I have a copy of the diet that gives a few substitutes, but I use very few since I wanna see how this actually works. Adding "anything" can altar the results.
Im on day 3 now, and I wanna know (I realize this is a personal decision) if you would weigh yourself after the 3 days, or after the whole week is through? |

I just had my last meal on day 3. I hadnt weighed myself yet. I think I'll wait. But I will say that it wasnt easy. The only reason I got through it, folowed it to the letter and didnt cheat, was because I was already cutting down on my calorie intake and laying off the carbs for about a month. My job is very physical, and I was left hungry shortly after each meal. |

On the 4th through 7th day, you eat reasonably. Low cal and low carb. Im sure excercise will help the weightloss along. You start the diet again on the 8th day.

I lost 48 pounds in 4 months on this diet last year. The trick is to drink plenty of water while on the diet and to not go overboard on the four days off. In fact, I've found that I don't eat as much on the days off as I would have otherwise becuase I just can't handle the portion sizes I used to have. Must be because my stomach shrank, or I just got used to eating such small portions. I've heard people complain about getting headaches while on the diet. I too started getting them, but found I wasn't drinking enough water. I also don't drink that much coffee or tea, but I'll have a couple of diet sodas during the day. I gained some of the weight back during the last half of last year as I was traveling a lot on business and not eating very healthy, so I just went back on it three weeks ago and have already lost 10 pounds. I find the first week on I lose 4-5 pounds, then 1-3 every week after. |

I wish you much luck, but 100lbs in 3 months isnt healthy. To lose weight sucessfully, it really needs to be more gradual. I did this diet for 1 week, simply to see what happens. I lost 2 1/2 lbs. I didnt do any extra excercising, but my work is very physical. If I did make that extra effort, I could have lost a little more. Thing of it is, we are all looking for that 1 thing that can make losing weight not only simple, but fast. Yes, you are likely to lose a good amount of weight at first, but then it will taper off.
Aside from lypo suction or stomach stapling, there simply is NO fast and simple way to take off weight. |

I dont think it would make a difference if you poached the egg.
The kind of hotdog doesnt matter, although turkey would be best.
And I would use Light ice cream. I have found its actually pretty good.

I started the diet today and i'm already starving and its not even lunch time yet. Its hard for me cause i have a job that requires me to wake up early, so i am going about 7 hours between meals. I was wondering if you had to eat ALL the breakfast/lunch/dinner all at once or could u space it out, like have a coffee when u wake up and eat the toast a bit later and the grapefruit a bit later, or does it all have to be consumed at once? I'll post again at the end of the 3 days or the week and let u know how i did!

Maybe with the hotdogs you can use soy dogs and with the meat you can use a vegi burger. I dont know how to replace the tuna. But since this diet supposably works with the chemical breakdown that each food gives, I dont know if any of this will work the same. |

I used this diet plan a couple of years ago when someone I worked with told me about it. They were given the diet plan by a Dr. I had great success with it. I did workout regularly, though, and there are things that HAVE to be done to loose weight and keep it off.
1. First of DO NOT substitute things in this diet-eat exactly what it tells you to.
2.You HAVE to eat ALL of the food! I've been there, and believe me it's all you can do at dinner of day 3!
3.If you drink diet soda, make sure that it is CLEAR diet soda. The carmel coloring in soda turns to sugar in the body, and you are to have NO additional sugar during those 3 days!
4.I have not heard of using lowfat vanilla ice cream-I was told to eat regular vanilla ice cream.
5.You can salt and pepper your food to taste. There are no limitations on this.
6.Drink LOTS of water!
7.On the 4 days that you eat "regular food", DO NOT snack. You can have 3 meals that consist of WHATEVER YOU WANT. You will find that you will want to eat healthier anyway once the weight starts to come off.
8.For anyone who thinks that they should go on the diet for more than 3 days to loose more-DON'T!! The whole reason that you have those 4 days off is so that your body stays "used to" eating those foods, that way you don't gain the weight back when you go off of the diet.
And I know that everyones experience is different, but for the record I lost about 7 lbs. the first week, and about 2-4 each week after. And usually my 3 meals per day for those 4 days off was Burger King! It was the one weakness I had. Had I eaten healthier maybe I would have lost more. Point being-FOLLOW THE DIET!! If you do, it WILL work. |

I've started today and feeling great but I love drinking cappuccino a lot and can't handle drinking coffee without milk. I know that the diet says black coffee but I'm just wondering if adding skim milk would ruin the the diet plan big time.
I do half an hour walk to burn off the milk anyway in order to make me feel better.I can't wait to weigh myself tomorrow morning. |

Hello, I have started this diet yesterday... I am on day two havent cheated or anything....... So far lost 3 lbs yesterday...... Doing good... if you follow the diet the way it is and no substitutes or adding anything.. It looks like it will really work...... On the 4 off days im going to eat 1 egg in the morning 1 piece of toast and coffee ...for lunch i am going to eat a chicken sandwich with nothing on it and for dinner chicken or fish and some veggies... as long as i don't eat to get stuffed and just till i am content i know its going to work.... By the way.... if you drink a half a glass of water... you won't mistake thirst for hunger.. Okay.. good luck! |

It gets pretty hard on the diet but just keep telling yourself its only 3 days LOL...I think it would probably help if you eat healthy on the 4 off days! |

I dont know if beef franks can be substituted.. But peanut butter can be substituted for a boiled egg or a banana.. Coffee and tea is suppose to boost your metabolism becuase of the caffeine... so don't substitute it. |

At last, found the information! Measuring in cup size is often confusing, so I am posting the EXACT values of weight for each food. Might give it a go tomorrow, although I'm currently losing 2 pounds every 4 days on my diet.

Black tea/ coffee
1/2 grapefruit
1 slice toast
1 tspn peanut butter
LUNCH:

4 oz string beans
4oz carrots
1 small apple
4oz vanilla ice - cream
Day 2:
BREAKFAST:
Black tea/ coffee
1 egg
1 slice toast
1/2 banana
LUNCH:
4oz tuna
5 saltine crackers
DINNER:
2 hot dog sausages
3oz broccoli
2oz carrots

J,
You have a couple of things wrong on your food list. Dinner the first night is 3 oz of any lean meat, and shouldn't a 1/2 cup serving of the 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream be 4 ozs. (1 cup= 8 oz.), same for broccoli & carrots? If I am confused let me know. |

Try weighing out 8 oz of icecream, then you'll realise that it cannot be right... that would equal about 3 cups. A 'cup' is a unit of volume, of which I just discovered doesn't mean equal weight. A cup of saphron is going to weigh less than a cup of lead. It's the density of the food that is the weight. |

My diet consists of 2 tins of tuna and vitamin tablets, it's not something I recommend at all! Therefore I am going to start this diet, as a kind of 'diet excursion', I shall keep you guys posted of my progress. p.s. I am too strong willed for my own good, so you can be sure the diet will be followed exactly. |

Just finished the three day diet (weighing myself on day 4). I managed to lose 6.6 pounds!! Just for reference I am 18, 5 foot 10, and start weight was 71.5kg, finishing at 68.5kg. After the last meal I felt really hyper, has anyone else had the same feeling? All my muscles seemed to be in overtime on the evening of day 3. Very happy with the diet, and however it works, it's definately worth a try for sceptics. |

To Sam --> I just bought salted crackers (I live in the UK too), and they worked fine for me. It doesn't really matter about low cal/high cal, as the diet portions are small enough to discount the difference between high and low cal. BTW I looked for low fat icecream in the supermarket, and was shocked to find the 'low fat' icecream had more calories than regular.
To Mezz --> 2 oz is about 57 grams. If you use the list I posted, you needn't measure the ice-cream in ml, just use the scales. |

My theory is that we are supposed to follow the diet basically 'to the letter' since its supposed to work with the chemical breakdown that each food item supplies. Unfortunately, unless you come across a scientific chemist on this board, your not gonna be able to get a definite answer as to what substitutes are ok or not ok.
What the diet should state is "lose up to 10 lbs". Everyone is gonna lose different amounts since we are all different. If a man does this diet with his wife and follows it the exact same way, its more likely that he will lose more weight simply because he is a man (faster metabolism). Age is serious factor as well. I noticed on a previous post by "J" that he/she lost 6.6 lbs. J is also only 18 years old! Our metabolism slows down as we get older (bummer, aint it?!) so it takes considerably more effort to lose weight. |

I like your comments JC, the way I view the diet is that it actually corrects what could be a diet altered metabolism. By changing the daily calorie intake by a few hundred calories every day of the diet, the body finally gets the idea that the 'starvation effect' is not a method it can adopt. As the calorie intake changes, it cannot consider itself as starving, therefore works as per usual. |

Not even close to the supposed 10 pounds people claim to lose, but it is still pounds! I think I will do low carb, you dont starve and I lose faster, but this was worth a shot! |

A cup is 8 oz. There is no question about it. Remember basic math? 8 ounces in a cup, 16 ounces in a pint, and 32 ounces in a quart? Look at your measuring cups. When measuring food or ice cream, either dry or liquid measuring cups will work. |

Cathy,
Do you have a clue what 8 oz of icecream looks like??!! A cup in this diet is an indication of size, not weight. Please see my posting above for weights. |

Please, please, please do not have 8 oz of icecream on day 1. I used to think that that was the correct amount (but any idiot can see you cannot lose weight with that amount of icecream). Use these weights:
Day 1:
BREAKFAST:
Black tea/ coffee
1/2 grapefruit
1 slice toast
1 tspn peanut butter
LUNCH:
Black tea/ coffee
4oz tuna
1 slice toast
DINNER:
2 slices any cold meat
4 oz string beans
4oz carrots
1 small apple
4oz vanilla ice - cream
Day 2:
BREAKFAST:
Black tea/ coffee
1 egg
1 slice toast
1/2 banana
LUNCH:
4oz tuna
5 saltine crackers
DINNER:
2 hot dog sausages
3oz broccoli
2oz carrots
1/2 banana
2oz vanilla ice - cream
Day 3:
BREAKFAST:
Black tea/ coffee
5 saltine crackers
1 oz cheddar cheese
1 small apple
LUNCH:
Black coffee
1 hard - boiled egg
1 slice toast
DINNER:
4oz tuna
4oz carrots
4oz cauliflower
4 oz melon
2oz vanilla ice - cream |

A cup is a unit of volume, although is sometimes assumed to be a certain weight of a certain food. If you measure everything as 1/2 cup or a cup in volume, then that's fine. A cup measurement is quite an old way of measuring, I have found, thus I have provided weights. |

1/2 a grapefruit

for dinner:
2 Slices of toast with marmite
1/2 Grapefruit
for tea:
1/2 cup of chicken
1/2 cup of peas
1 tomatoe
strawberry moose
I didn't feel hungry till about 7pm and then if you drink your water and you don't feel hungry
I lost 3 lbs since yesterday but on the diet i saw it says to drink 4 glasses a day but I only had 1 |

Hey Gul, ty so much for the advice, but guess what, I added two packets of sweet and low and also substituted the cottages cheese for tuna and still lost 10 pounds. Unfortunately, I gained 5 or the 10 back on my 4 days. I just felt deprived I guess. Anyway, I'm one day into my second week and on my next 4 days I will eat healthier foods and see what happens. |

So far has anyone been successful in a long term period?

My friend lost 2 and a half stone on this diet (35lbs) but she didnt do it in a month, it took her 3 months.
Im on my 2nd day of the diet, feel hungry, have a head ache and feel dizzy/light headed but that could be down to not drinking enough, will stick with it.
I hate most the things on the diet, only thing i dont mind is tuna, toast, hot dogs and meat... but have been forcing myself to eat it all and if nothing else ive found out that I can eat peanut butter, egg, grapefruit, brocoli and not die or be sick! But the cauliflower might finish me off tomorrow! hehe
Only thing which worries me... when u come off the 3 days how do u not pile the weight back on in those 4 days? Im craving pizza and burger king!! Which are things i dont normally eat anyway!
Good luck everyone! |

HI ALL! WENT ON THIS DIET FOR THE THREE DAYS, STUCK TO IT TO A "T" AND LOST 7 POUNDS!! I WENT OFF IT THE FOURTH DAY AND STARTED AGAIN TODAY. I DID NOT WEIGH MYSELF THIS MORNING SO I WOULDN'T GET DISCOURAGED AFTER GOING TO GOLDEN CORRAL ON MY DAY OFF. I AM GOING TO DO 3 DAYS ON, ONE DAY OFF AND SEE HOW THAT GOES. I KNOW YOUR SUPPOSED TO TAKE 4 DAYS OFF BUT I'M DESPERATE!! I WAS 205LBS- NOW 198LBS. HOPING TO GET AROUND 165 SOON (I'M PRETTY TALL SO THAT WILL MAKE ME A SIZE 10!!) I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED EVERY THREE DAYS TO SEE IF MY PLAN WORKS. CAN'T WAIT FOR 2 AND 1/2 DAYS TO WEIGH MY SELF AGAIN. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL, I'LL CHECK IN IN THREE DAYS AFTER MY WEIGH IN,,,,,PAMELA |

I started this diet today. I was given this diet years ago by a friend's mom. She'd lost 10lbs the first week and then 5 or so lbs each week after. I never tried it cuz I wasn't motivated. And then I'd totally forgotten about it until I ran across it will going through some old recipes. I'm getting married on November 13th and need to shed a few. I'm in the U.S. and the version I have is slightly different as far as amounts/serving sizes. Here's what I have (below). (I'll let you know how I do on it after day 3.)
Day 1:
Breakfast
Black coffee or tea
Half grapefruit
1 slice toast
2 tbsp. peanut butter
Lunch
Black coffee or tea
1/2 cup tuna
1 slice toast
Dinner
2 slices of any meat (about 3 oz)
1 cup of string beans
1 cup beets
1 small apple
1 cup vanilla ice cream
Day 2:
Breakfast
Black coffee or tea
1 egg
Half banana
1 slice toast
Lunch
1 cup cottage cheese
5 Saltine crackers
Dinner
2 hot dogs
1 cup broccoli
1/2 cup carrots
Half banana
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream
Day 3:
Breakfast
Black coffee or tea
5 Saltine crackers
1 slice cheddar cheese
1 small apple
Lunch
1 hard-boiled egg
1 slice toast
Dinner
1 cup of tuna
1 cup beets
1 cup cauliflower
Half cantaloupe or 1 cup frozen mixed fruit
1/2 vanilla ice cream
*Diet works on chemical breakdown and is proven. DO NOT vary or substitute any of the above foods. Salt and peper may be used - no other seasonings. When no quantity is given there are no restrictions other than common sense. This diet is to be used 3 days at a time.
In the 3 days you will lose 10lbs. After 3 days of dieting you can eat normal food, but do not over do it. After your 4 days of normal eating, start back on your 3 day diet. You can lose up to 40lbs in a month...if you stick to it.
This is a safe diet. REMEMBER - DO NOT SNACK BETWEEN MEALS! |

So today is day 3...and I have to say that I'm feeling alittle deprived and hungry. Not too bad, but I'm definately looking forward to eating alittle more normal tomorrow. I'm craving a diet coke soooo bad! Someone said that you're suppose to wait to weigh yourself until 2 days after you finish (guess that would day 5), but I went a head and weighed in this morning anyways. I've lost 6lbs! I'm seriously suprised! I'm 5'8" and started at 226.5 and now I'm at 220.5. I suppose that the more you have to lose, the faster you will lose initially. And I've stuck to my version of the diet (above) with no substitutions (no extra spices or sweeteners, no lemon, no soda of any kind). I wonder if I can manage to keep it off? We'll see... I'll update you all on day 5. |

Okay, so I finished up my 3-days yesterday and weighed in again today. Lost another 3 lbs! 9 all together!!! And I definately feel like I have more energy too. I'm going to do my best to watch my calorie intake on the 4 days off and then I'll start up again on Sunday. We'll see if it'll work again next time??? |

HELLO ALL! I am a bit confused, I have looked up the 3 day diet...only to have seen a diff. varieties of the "3-day-diet", how do I know which one to actually follow?
I am motivated to lose! 167lbs & wanting to lose at the least 20lbs. As for myself, I'm only 18 and have been on several diets...which none seemed to work well. =/
Help! |

Hi All,
I lost 5 lbs. on first 3 day attempt. I am now on the second day of second 3 day attempt. This is not an easy diet, but seems to work for me, as I can't take more than a 3 day commitment. I am eating lighter & working out on the 4 days off. Good Luck to All & may we lose what we want to quickly & more importantly keep it off! |

Hello All,
This morning was my first try at this diet. After doing more research today I am wondering if you need to eat the exact meals in succession. I had done this diet a few years ago, but the version I had said you could choose a breakfast, lunch, and dinner from a list and what you could substitute with what. (I have since lost this version) Is it bad if you eat the day two breakfast on day one and the day three dinner? I am so confused! Did I screw up? |

Day 3 of the diet, I haven't weighed myself because I want to see the total number. I did realize that on day one, the measurements have to be off. "3 oz. of lean meat or chicken, 1 cup of green beans, 1 cup of carrots, 1 apple, and 1 cup of ice cream", this is more than I can fit in my stomach. Honestly it was like a fear factor challenge! For my next run at this diet next week, I will cut down to 1/2 cup of veggies and ice cream. |

If you scroll up to Sept 13th, "J" posted the diet using different measurements since there was some disagreement regarding weight measurements to liquid. Maybe this will help you out. |

Just using my scientific calculator, and since this diet is dictated in American volumetric measurements, wouldn't it make sense to translate it into metric volumetric measurements?
1 Cup = 236.6 ml or 8.3 UKoz (or half a pint)
(1/2 Cup is obviously half that)
1 Tablespoon (Tbsp) = 14 ml
3 oz (any meat, first dinner) = 89 ml |

JC,
The 1 cup measurements weren't confusing until I tried to eat all the food in one sitting. lol Maybe it weas because during the day you eat so little, then fill up with dinner. I was so hungry when I ate dinner that I probably ate too fast.

April,
CONGRATULATIONS!
Like you, I tend to indulge on the weekends. Sad to say but I had Pizza and Beer Saturday night. I did gain back 2 pounds, but I am confident that eating healthier the rest of the week will not stump my progress too much. Plus I pulled the elleptical machine out of the garage into a room I am more likely to use it. |

HI
There is a lot of confusion about the 1 cup rule. is 1 cup 8oz or 4oz I know the US measurement is 8 oz but where did you get 4 oz from? That is not correct at all? is it? Anyways this is my 1st day and im a little hungry but not that much. Hope this works wish me luck? By the way is 3oz of chicken pre cooked weight or after cooking? |

I have heard that all you lose is water weight which is why you gain it back so fast. if that is the case do you look smaller as far as body mass or is your weight on the scale just different? |

After losing and regaining many times on Atkins, I started the 3 day diet yesterday. I started at 177 and when I weighed in this morning I was at 174. So 3 pounds the first day. I'm curious to see how the weightloss holds up. I'm addicted to the scale...lol...so we'll see how much it fluctuates. Yesterday was fairly easy with the exception of being hungry in the afternoon. Around 3 pm I was starving, but made some tea and that seemed to tide me over until dinner time. I'm already looking forward to having ice cream tonight! |

OMG, I love that you can have vanilla icecream... I like to cut up the piece of fruit that I'm to have at dinner time and put it in the icecream, since I never absolutely adored vanilla as it was. Having the vanilla icecream with the banana is my favorite. Looking foreward to desert sort of helps keep me going to be honest hehe. I found a way to love the "plain" tuna as well. =) I mix Rosemary into it thoroughly and it tastes great, especially on the toast like a sandwhich. I'm on my second day. Hehe, I'm not sure if I was supposed to but I took half the piece of bread, dipped it in egg and made french toast with it, without any butter or anything except the banana. And, resourceful as I am, I made the other half of egg into scrambled eggs and had the other half of bread as toast with the eggs. How elaborate...Maybe too elaborate...whatever though. I HATE COTTAGE CHEESE but I suffered through it since I didn't know I could interchange it with the tuna. Gosh darn. If anyone hates tuna even more than the cottage cheese though you should mix lemon in it. My specific diet says to have a cup of cottage cheese with half a banana for lunch so I just mixed it all up with the lemon too. Anyways, I hope that this works and that it isnt just because of water weight loss like some are saying... |

Well, I'm on day 2 and I weighed myself this morning and I lost 3 pounds. Now at 190. WooHoo! The ice cream makes it worth it. What a treat. But I was VERY hungry this morning before breakfast. Now I am satisfied after having and egg, toast, and 1/2 banana. I cracked the egg and put it in the microwave, kind of scrambled. I figure that is the same as a boiled egg since I mixed nothing with it but salt & pepper. You have to stir it frequently or it will be too done.
Hope the weight loss continues. |

Hi,
I've been on this diet for aprox. 3 1/2 weeks now. On 3 days off 4 of course and It's actually working for me! As of today I've lost 22lbs and hopefully will keep going since I have a lot to lose. Anyway mine is slightly different then the ones I've seen posted here and I'm not sure why. It's basically the same but here ya go.
Day 1
Breakfast
1/2 grapefruit or banana
1 slice bread (I use Heiners 35)
2 tbsp peanut butter
Lunch
1/2 cup tuna
1 slice bread
Dinner
two slices of meat (about 3 oz)
1 cup green beans
1 cup peas or carrots
1 small apple
1 cup lowfat frozen yogurt
Day 2
Breakfast
1 egg (I use eggbeaters, pretty good actually)
1/2 banana
1 slice bread
Lunch
1 slice lowfat cheese
5 crackers
Dinner
4oz chicken (usually baked or grilled)
1 cup broccolli
1/2 cup of carrots or peas
1/2 banana
1/2 cup lowfat frozen yogurt
Day 3
Breakfast
1 hard boiled egg
1 slice bread
Lunch
1 slice lowfat cheese
5 crackers
1 small apple
Dinner
4 oz piece of chicken
1 cup peas or carrots
1 cup cauliflower
1/2 cup of cantaloupe
1/2 cup lowfat frozen yogurt
At least 8 glasses of water per day of course. This one is also not as strict because it allows for some substitutions. And it also didn't say anything about no creamer. I have 2 to 3 cups of coffee every day with creamer and splenda and it hasn't hurt from what I could tell so I'm not giving it up! LOL |

I started the diet today. I used it years
ago and only got thru day 1 every time, but managed to lose about 2lbs a week that
way. I actually came across it again in Woman's World magazine. The article basically says there is no chemical breakdown..just that it equals 968 c. per day on average, and you tend to eat less on your days off. So overall, I suppose it
keeps your metabolism at optimal level. And you don't have the boredom of 1200c.
EVERY DAY. I'll keep you posted, this is sort of an experiment. |

It's my second day of the diet and i'm doing really good with it. I'm actually finding it hard to finish all the food. There is only one problem I have and it's the cottage cheese, this is the first time I have tried it and I felt sick eating it. Other than that I think this might actually be possible for me. |

I did this diet years ago... and I did have some sucess. I was wondering how many calories a day would be optimal on ur days off. I don't want my body to go into starvation mode but I also don't want to over eat and gain any lost weight back. I would appreciate any input. |

I was introduced to this diet when I was 13 or 14 actually. My uncle was given the diet because of his high cholesterol. Me and my mom did it, but I remember the last day we pigged out on Brownies:) Well I am now 26, married with 2 kids. I went to the Dr.s today and I am 33 pounds over weight!! Never was I this heavy, not even during my pregnancies. I am determined to lose this weight. Wish me luck!!:) |

This is the 2nd Day of my 3rd week on the Diet. I've lost 7lbs. I'm amazed, because it is Christmastime...I haven't been eating alot but I certainly eat whatever
I WANT on the 4 days off, just less than normal. I am going on a trip in a couple weeks so it has been easier to stick with.
Any other time I don't know if I'd have the motivation. Good Luck everyone. |

I have tried this diet last year right before I became pregnant and I lost about 26 lbs. in one month. Then when I found out that I was pregnant, I figured that I was going to get fat so I stopped. Now my son is one, and I weigh 50 lbs. more than I did the day that I went into labor. I plan on going to Disney World at the end of march. I would like to lose at least 50lbs. or more before then!!! |

But all in all, it is like a weekly thing for me. It's great for my self to notice the difference and even greater for others to notice the change. I feel great and it pushes me to continue to lose an additional 10-15 lbs. |

I did this diet five years ago and i lost alot of weight. Do not substitute anything in the list. I still remember the first week I lost 5 pounds, the second week I lost three. I was starting to get discouraged but, then again the third week I lost 9. So keep on don't give up. I stopped the diet because I got fed up with the same foods over and over. I am now restarting since I want to lose about 20 pounds. It's great to have a forum for this. Good luck everyone! |

i'm planning on starting this diet this week, i really want to lose 20lbs by my birthday (5 months away) so i'm hoping this diet works for me, but i have a question or two. what's the best type of cottage cheese to buy? i've seen small curd, creamed....does it matter, or is it just whatever you prefer? i've never had it so someone please tell me what's better! lol! also does percentage matter? i've seen 1% and 4%....so if it does, which one is best? one more, can you honestly substitute the grapefruit with an orange? it's the only thing i cannot stand (not even the smell of it!). thanks and good luck everyone! |

the type of cottage cheese doesn't matter. just make sure you eat only 1 cup. No, you can't substitute the grapefruit with an orange. Try to squeeze the juice of the grapefruit and drink it instead. that's what I do when I don't feel like eating the whole graprefruit. |

Hi, everyone. I just discovered this forum today and want to put in my two cents. I lost 47 pounds doing this diet 2 years ago. Started at 244 lbs. and got down to 197. I lost 7 pounds the first week, then averaged about 2 a week. I never exercised and ate like crazy on my "days off." So I was amazed this diet worked so well. I dieted on Mon, Tues, and Wed, so I could always eat on the weekends. When I got down to about 200, things really slowed down. Now I still do the diet but just to maintain that weight. I know I need to start exercising -- just not motivated yet. You do have to follow the diet EXACTLY. My friend did it with me and only lost about 17 pounds, but she would cheat and not do the diet for weeks at a time, etc. Having those 4 days to look forward to really kept me focused on sticking out the 3 days of hell. My question to all of you is: Does anyone know where this diet originated and where we could get accurate information as far as how it works, substitutions, etc.? Someone mentioned an article in a womens' magazine. Did they describe at length anything about this diet?
Don't give up. I'm still stuck at 200, but at least I'm not inching my way to 250 like I was before. Each week I say I'll eat less on my 4 days off, and each week I don't. But I'm just glad I had this diet to at least keep me going in the right direction. I know myself well enough to know there's no diet I can stick to every day without feeling deprived. That's why this one is so great -- you always have those 4 days to just forget about every little thing you consume. Good luck, everyone. |

Hi!
I am about to start this diet tomorrow for the first time (today I have to buy all of the stuff). I hope it works for me the way it has been working for a lot of you on this site. The only problem is that Im allergic to beets. I know that this diet probably works best with no substitutions, but that is the only change I would need to make. Does anyone know of something (maybe something already on the diet) that I can put in its place? I would really appreciate any advice I can get. The best of luck to all of you. :-) |

The salt could prove crucial, as the diet could be considered to be based on chemical reactions. Just try it, sticck to it, and smile afterwards. |

I know alot of people say don't substitute but if you need to you can interchange carrots and beets.
Started again today. Lost 4 lbs a couple of weeks ago and have kept it off. I plan on doing this every tues, wed, and thurs until I hit goal.

I started this diet yesterday, and haven't cheated yet. This might not seem like a big thing, but I normally eat @ 2500 calories a day. I'm not weighing myself this time, but after my four days off, I'll weigh myself and then do the three days again. |

It's better to weigh in only once a week, the morning after the three days of dieting. If you weigh in after the four days of eating, you may see a slight gain and be too disillusioned to continue. My pattern seemed to be that I'd gain a pound or two after the 4 days, but lose 2-4 after the 3 days of dieting. Also, for us women, remember -- time of the month makes a difference also. I never lost anything the week before my periods, but would be down a little extra the following week. So plow through it and you should be OK. |

Hi Everyone! I am so glad I found this forum - someone gave me the 3 day diet 'recipe' a year ago as she had lost 10 lbs in one week on it, but it just seemed to be too unrealistic for me and I decided not to try it...but now I have, and wanted to do some research first to see what people were saying about the diet. I looked all over the internet for reviews on the diet, but there are hardly any reviews out there - so I was happy to find this! And it seems to be working for most of you - I will try it and let you know how it goes - but I also plan on exercising - I already exercise 4 days a week, and think that is CRUCIAL to any weight loss program - even if it's just walking 30 minutes a day, this will help you!! Right now I'm at 190 and hope to eventually weigh 145-150. I am a little confused about the peanut butter and ice cream measurements - my sheet says it's 1 tablespoon of PB, and 1 cup of ice cream...but there were several discrepancies about this in the forum...do you think it really matters, cuz it seemed to be working either way for all of you...? |

MB-I lost about 15 lbs on this diet a few years ago. I did feel thinner and I dropped one pant size but I eventually got sick of the food and quit. I slowly regained the 15 lbs. but am now restarting to lose again.
Laura-It is 1 tablespoon of pb and 1 cup measuring cup for dry measurements of ice cream. I just fill up the cup and then spoon it in a bowl. I think people got confused and tried to weigh out 8 oz of ice cream on a scale.
Hope that helps |

I just completed diet yesterday and when I weighed in this morning I had lost 5 lbs. !!! Now I exercised a lot this week doing cardio and weights but I am very happy with 5 lbs. in three days.
Mara-I have never had any stomach problems with the diet. But are you lactose intoloerant because the cottage cheese would definitely effect that.

To MB: I DEFINITELY felt slimmer, as I ultimately lost 45 pounds on this diet. The first week may indeed be "water weight," but who cares? It gives you the incentive to go on and when you keep at it, you will lose real fat. My clothes felt much looser after a few weeks. This is not a quickie diet to shed a few pounds. It is a long-term regimen for people who have a lot of weight to lose. You will lose a lot at first, then it will slow down. After losing 45 lbs., I stopped losing, but then again, I never did any exercise. I know if I do that, I will lose more. Right now, the diet is just keeping me from gaining it back. I still think the 3 days are torture, but having those 4 "carefree" days really keeps me going. To JJ: Every element of this diet is necessary to make it work, from what I hear. It is the combination and ratio of the foods that apparently makes the difference. So I guess you must have the ice cream. I have mine later in the evening (a few hours after dinner) and it doesn't seem to make a difference. To Mara: Like Mary said, there is dairy in this diet every day (cottage cheese, ice cream, cheese) and you may be sensitive to lactose. I have irritable bowel and this diet actually helps this condition, I think because it has good fiber. I showed it to my doctor and he was impressed by how healthy it was. He said although it is pretty low in calories, it covers all the food groups and has lots of protein and fiber but warned not to do it longer than three days at a stretch. I think if you go longer, your metabolism slows down. When you start eating normally, it speeds back up again and actually burns up more energy. Hope this helps. |

I started this diet on January 31. I stuck strictly to the diet sheet and I did indeed lose 10 pounds in those three days. I am counting on this diet to be my life saver as I was only 10 pounds away from weighing 250 pounds. I was so scared I am pushing it to say I am 5' 2". Which 240 pounds did not look good on. I was a very bad overeater and I also grazed all day. I did not get hungry on the 3 days and it is easy to stick to since you know that you will be off of it at the end of the three days. It keeps me from feel bored and depraved of all the foods that I enjoy. I did mind my manners on the days off as I have a 90 pound total goal. After my 3 day diet my upper stomach had shrunk and I had lost weight around my upper arm/chest area. You feel better all over mind and body and I actually had more energy. So to all of you who doubt it just stick to it. I am only 33 and I intend to use this diet to make me the person I so long to be! |

Remona,
Congratulations, I'm glad the diet is working for you! Some people are disappointed that they don't lose 8 or 10 lbs. the first week, but they are only 20 or 30 pounds overweight. Obviously, the heavier you are when you start, the more you will lose the first week. You sound like me. When I hit 244, I felt like I was 80 years old. Stairs, bending down, getting out of bed were all a big ordeal. But with each pound lost, I realized I could move better and everything hurt less. I used to always feel a pressure in the top of my abdomen, which disappeared completely after the first month. I still have a ways to go, but it's the only program that I've been able to stick to (over 2 years now). You're right, it's easy to get through the 3 days, knowing the 4-day stretch is coming. You never have to give up anything, just postpone it. Keep it up and keep up posted. |

Just because someone had asked earlier about the originations of this diet... this diet is given to patients with heart problems who need to lose weight very quickly so they can get heqart surgery. They give it to patients at the hospital my mother and aunt work in. Just started today. Finished lunch about an hour ago asnd haven't cheated yet. Will post to let you know how i do, and hopefully i'll have a positive response for someone who is skeptical about string this diet. But my theory is... it's only 3 days... what do you have to lose except the weight? you're certainly not gonna gain anymore. |

I am going to start this diet over tomorrow. I was going to start this diet today, because I did not wake up until about 12:00 pm because this is my day off of work. I thought it would be easy for me to do it today because the day was already half way over, so I would really not be starving that much. But then I decided to wait because it is still the weekend and I know my husband will probably want to go somewhere and get something to eat and I would have to give into the temptation. I really have to lose weight because I weigh 225 lbs. and I went to the doctor and he done some blood work and he said that I was at a high risk of diabetes. I have a problem with sticking to a diet because I always say well, its ok if I mess up because I can just start over tomorrow, and tomorrow never comes for me because I always say that! |

Hey guys, i'm starting this diet today!
I've previously done it but thought it was about time i gave it another go.. last time i didn't stick to it religiously!
Well its the first day of a new month (and the first day of lent- not that i'm very religious) so the timing seems perfect- roll on easter! :)
i weigh 154lbs & i'm 5'7 so i know i probably won't be losing lots but any loss will be a happy one... especially as all my clothes either don't fit anymore or are very tight :(
Wish me luck! i will write again tomorrow with progress. |

I am on my third day...It is very easy to stick with this.... I have found that it works. I have lost over 5 lbs and it's helped me to realize you don't need to eat a jumbo burger and fries to feel satified. america is over weight because of the large portions. we have to train ourselves.my anniversary is in May so I want to be down 50 lbs by then so I am going to stick to it. |

Been reading the posts as I intend starting this diet next week! (Have a wedding this weekend so must wait til then)- Am bridesmaid at another wedding on March 16th and really need to shed about 10lbs-- Figure I can do the diet twice by then!!! Just a wee bit confused about portions and ingrediets. I know the american sites all give stuff in cups, or 4oz to us but they don't metion beetroot at all! The last time I did this, about 3 years ago I think beetroot was on twice! And is it 1 or 2 tablespoons of peanut butter on the first day? Are RITZ crackers ok for the cracker bit? Think that is all my questions? Oh, last one, is it 4oz of vanilla ice cream per day? Thanks |

To Sarah Wilton: This diet is supposedly for people who need to lose a lot of weight. You will probably eventually lose the 7 pounds on this diet, but unfortunately, it will come back fast if you go off it. I guess if you are willing to keep doing the diet indefinitely just to maintain, it might work. All I know is, every time I go off it for a week or two, the pounds come back very quickly. |

Hi everyone. Im happy to read that most, or at least some people here are having some sucess with this diet. I have started it today, but I just can not get down tuna or cottage cheese, no matter how much I try. I realize you are not suppose to substitute, but does anyone have any possible substitions for tuna and cottage cheese? Yuck! Or do you think it will make a huge difference if I just skip those teo things? Thanks! |

Well started this morning-- Tea fine, toast fine, grapefruit bitter (pink grapefruit, was that ok??) and the peanut butter almost made me gag!!! YUCK!
Lunch was fine the mini can of tuna in brine (assume that is ok, v low fat content!)
Now I have a 3oz lean steak on and will eat it with the green beans and 4oz of beetroot-- Does anyone else have beetroot on their diet or is mine a strange one? Then the apple and the icecream I will have later.
Was 135lbs this morning but with these bloody wedding coming up I would love to be about 126lbs. Think I may have left it a little too late!!! But even if I lost 3lbs this week and 3lbs next week that would at least be something--The other bridesmaids are about 5'10" and only weigh about 112lb each and the bride is lighter again!! AAAGHHHH
Anyway, one day almost done but I need to start drinking more water
Talk later and best of luck to everyone else on this mad cap quest!!!! |

Annie I am so happy for your post. I hate it when people stop posting and you never know if the diet truly works in the long run. It gives me hope to know that I too can lose a great deal of weight as well! I'm currently 245lbs and want to lose exactly 100lbs. I have a wedding to attend in 3 months and will be ecstatic if the scale says anything below 220. So losing even 10lbs a month would be wonderful for me. And I definately will keep you all posted every week with my results all the way until I lose that magic number..100! |

Hi all. I'm from South Carolina, USA and I am starting my secound 3-day round today. The first week I lost 7.5 lbs. I was thrilled! I ate moderately over the four days off but did eat what I wanted. I just didn't go overboard. When I weighed this morning I had lost another pound and a half. I feel that this diet will help me get into the life style of eating healthier. If I do this on my four days off then by the time I lose the weight (70lbs) I want to lose, I will be able to maintain. Wish me luck cause nothing else has worked so far. I have one question. Do you have to toast the bread or can you eat it plain. |

Ok....reading all these 1 to 2 lb weight loss stories is depressing me. I have been on the Akind diet for a few weeks untill i ended up with gout in my ankle and was told to stop eating so much fatty foods and meat by my doctor. My friend turned me on to this diet with the impression of loosing about 10 lbs a week.
i am curently 390 lbs (huge yes i know)and want to loose a total of 150 lbs.....100 lbs by july 6th for our family trip to florida. (im in ohio)
I just joined my cities rec center and have been exersizing for a little over a week now. I just started this diet today and will stick to it like glue. I quit smoking Jan 11th and havent had any fast food since that date also. i also gave up coffee due to the love of creamer. I realy hope to be the person that comes on in a week and say i lost more then 1 or 2 lbs. we will see. |

Hey Guys! I am at the end of day two. As of this morning I had lost 2.5 lbs!
Why is it that people weigh less in the morning than the previous evening? I even weigh less 20 minutes after I have been awake as opposed to rolling out of bed and weighing in. Why is this? Gravity? Tired muscles? |

Well Day 3.
As of this morning I seem to have lost about 3.5lbs. This could just be readjusting for the weekend I had though, as I was at another wedding and pigged out!!! Anyway, any loss is good. If I could lose another lb or two I will be so well behaved for the next 4 days and start this again next Monday just in time to finish for the wedding where I am bridesmaid on Thursday!
Only did exercise on Monday and know it would be better if I could have done more.
One more question: How much water are we supposed to drink on this diet?
Thanks and best of luck to all! |

thank you mustlose. i have decided to take saturday off, friends are coming into town and we are bbq-ing because of this beautiful weather!! (coastal nc) i have gone down another 2 pounds, 199! haven't seen that since the morning of thanksgiving!! i credit it to drinking water (no diet sodas), having a minimum 40 lbs to lose, not eating after 6pm and having to go to my skinny sisters wedding on the beach may 19!! i have tried and tried this diet since 1988, after the first 3 days and 7 pounds i never could stick to it. so sunday will be the true test to see if i can go back on it after tasting that yummy food again. i will say that doing this diet made me realize that i don't need as much food as i thought i did. i'm trying to get in the mind set of "eating to live not living to eat" hope you kick that cold soon, best of luck to all, i will check in sunday or monday to let ya'll know how it's going. pamela |

starting day 1 again, so far i have lost 30 pounds. i started to give up again and gained about 5 back, there's no way i'm gonna gain those 30 pounds back when i've been doing so well.i don't have that much more to lose, i have 30 more pounds to go.this has been the easiest plan i've done, i find i can stick with this one the best because i know in about a couple more days i can eat a chocolate bar [i love chocolate alot!]i don't feel deprived and i'm not as hungry when i go off for my 3 days.i find i eat better which doesen't make sense because you would figure on your days off you'd be so hungry that you would pig out.wish me luck.
it's easier to lay down than it is to get up. |

hi laura, thanks for the words of encouragement! i couldn't wait to come on here till monday. i'm on day 7 with no cheating, down 2 more pounds 197! the true test will be to go under 195, that is the lowest i've been in almost 2 years, (since having my son.) i plan on taking a multivitiam as soon as i make it to the store. i know people are getting "worried" because i'm doing this diet without taking a break and thankyou for you concern but let me tell you, you would never believe what i have been doing to my body for the past two years! i am an emotional eater even a closet eater, i'll shove food in my face for whatever reason, even food i don't like till i am soo stuffed i can't mover. also i'm a junk food freak! if i drove by a fast food place my car would just end up in the drive thru, i'm not kidding, whether i was hungry or not. so i am really proud of myself for sticking to this and once i get down to a reasonable weight i will "eat normal". i know this is a struggle with so many people, just keep trying whether it's this diet or not. like i said it's a struggle with me every minute of the day, especially when my son has him yummy fantastic meals and treats. ps. i bought a bag of m&m's for my mother and had the bag overnight, i didn't even open it, believe me i wanted to tip that bag right over my mouth and eat every last one of them, i was so proud of myself handing over the bag unopened to her this morning and i think she was a little shocked!! love hearing from all you guys, best of luck, pamela |

WOW pamela I would have eaten that whole bag of m@m's i love chocolate alot[GOOD FOR YOU!] it's my one strong weakness, but than again since starting this plan it's getting easier to resist so much of it.I love reading your letters, my story sounds alot like yours.i to love junk food i'll eat for whatever reason, i love sugary junk.there's days it's alot harder than some, right now i'm at the point in my life that i need a change. i have a job that i have been at for 12 years i've had enough of it so that really makes temptation stronger. But i'm not a quitter so i'm gonna go for what i want and acomplish it!I've decided it's my year! I wish you all luck i know how hard this is. |

hey guys, just checking in. i'm down another pound to 196! i did go off the diet yesterday instead of saturday like i planed. i got so mad at my baby's dad that i ate a personal pan pizza. i tell you when i'm that mad my body just goes into overdrive. i can't stop myself. (only with eating, nothing else, i think because i'm not a yeller or i don't throw things, so my only outlet is eating so believe me my son is not in harms way) i just want to push my feelings down, and for me they go down much better with a pizza! and to tell you the truth that pizza didn't even taste good this time but i sure finished it. i'm just so used to using food as an outlet. i guess i should be thankful it wasn't a large pizza! anyway i'll keep ya'll posted. thanks your letting me vent, off to have peanut butter toast! yummy, pamela |

Hi mustlose, so sorry to hear about your dad and mom. my payers are with you and your family. and thank you also for your words of encouragement.
Hi laura, i know exactly what you are talking about not liking your job, you have to follow your heart and do what is best for you. i gained 90 (yes 90, not a typo!!) pounds in one year at a job i couldn't stand that i took in a different state than my family and friends!!! after i left and moved "back home" i lost 60 pounds in 6 months with not much effort!!!!
hey guys, its me again. i made it to 195! down 13 pounds in 12 days. now the true test begins. like i said i always reach 195 and give up. also i don't know if i mentioned that i went from 198 to 208 in a really short period of time, (about 2 weeks) that's why i think the weight came off rather quickly. anyway i stayed on the 3 day diet for the 12 days consecutively except for one person pan pizza. i'm going to stay on it till i can't take it anymore! but to tell you the truth i am kinda enjoying each meal, i can't believe it myself. i especially like the first day. the other two i just get by. i don't know if i mentioned that i'm a single mom and i only work 3 nights a week waitressing, so i think that also contributes to me being able to stick to this diet. i don't have to fix a nice dinner for a "husband" or worry about having a lot of food around the house. it was hard the first few days when i gave my son his meals and snacks but now i do it without any trouble. i don't even lick my fingers if i get some of his food on them!!!!! i will keep ya'll posted!!! best of luck to everyone!!!!!

hi justine, i don't know how fast you will that 12 pounds because you don't have much to lose. when i started i was 208 and needed to lose around 45 pounds so i think it would come off easier for me in the beginning. my first 3 days i lost 7 pounds. but let me tell you, from what i learned you can not cheat, not even a little bit and you have to eat everything on the menu i really think that some of my weight loss has to do with me only drinking water (no diet soda) and the couple cups of coffee. today was the end of my 3 days and i'm down another 3 pounds to 189!! i can't believe it. i love this diet. i did the calorie count on it and it comes to around 1200 (with the brands i use). so it's not to ridiculous. that's the low standard of what dietitians say to take in when you want to lose weight. best of luck to you, pamela |

hi guys down to 187 from 208!!!! started march 15 till today april 16. went from a size 18-20 to a 13-14 as of today!!!
hi laura, and happy Easter to you as well. i have pretty much stayed on this 3 day diet for the full 30 days. i have gone off it, 3 times for just one day. the first time i went off it i had Mexican food for lunch and pizza for dinner. i gained 5 pounds that day. i really ate a lot. the next day i started the 3 day diet and was down the 5 pounds after those 3 days. the next time i went off it i had normal food, a tuna sandwich (if you can believe that! my mom made it, it was delicious). a can of speggitos (?), chex mix, and for breakfast peanut butter toast and grapefruit juice because i thought i was going to do the diet that day. i didn't gain any weight that day because i eat pretty early. i don't eat after 5pm, i know that really helps. i go to bed hungry, if you read my earlier post you will see that i have not done that in 2 years. i have gone to bed having to take tums pretty much everynight because i was in such discomfort from stuffing myself i had heartburn and an upset stomach. this morning i was down to 187!! i went to town with my mother and we went to a Chinese buffet!! it was delicious but i'm very disappointed with myself. of course i'm going to start tomorrow, and i can't wait to weigh myself in the morning so i won't do this again, i'm sure it will be at least 5 pounds of pure fat. i do exercise. i started 30 days ago on an elliptical trainer, (like a bike and stair stepper combined). i could only do 2 minutes and thought i was going to die. 30 days later i'm up to 25 minutes, split up, 15 minutes in the morning as soon as i get out of bed and 10 minutes in the evening before going to bed. plus i lift 10 pound weights 2 times a day, but only 25 lifts on each side. i started lifting with 2 cans of soup, about one pound each. but from MY opinion if your not ready to exercise just wait a little while. because cutting way down on eating and trying to exercise is so mentally and physically draining i think you should pick one and just do that for a least 2 weeks. like i said that's my opinion, i'm sure some people won't agree with that. (i don't want to offend anyone.) anyway best of luck to you. pamela |

I just started this diet today. I really like to hear about how other people have succeeded on this plan. It's inspiring. I'm 5'3" and weigh around 160. I don't own a scale yet though. I have tried everything to lose weight, I've worked out religiously, and watched what I eat, nothing changes. I'm 27 and have always had a paunch (lower belly), as long as I can remember. My body hates change I guess. This is supposed to change the way the body deals with calories, correct? I hope my body gets the picture! |

Hey Guys,
Its my last day today, i would not lie and say it was easy, it is hard
But i already am down 2lbs as of today morning (3rd day morning ).
Anyone who is looking for a fast weight loss, this diet is NOT for them
At first week when you try this diet , you lose at first week only water weight, and then you gain it if you leave the diet.
This should be an ongoing process, the first week you lose more, cause its not fat that going, the second week your metabolism starts using up the stored fat,
the 4 off days are very important, as it prevents you metabolism into going into starvation mode, once that is trigered you will lose weight fast but as soon as you quit the diet you will gain all that fat back. |

Hey congrats on the loss XJ, altho my experience is somewhat diff from urs...I lost about 10lbs the 1st week, then there after I lose about 4-6lbs a week on it (when I stick to it, lol) & I've been on it for about 2 mos... I've lost almost 30lbs. I agree that the 1st week is water weight & that u should take the 4 days off, I know I do. BUT in those 4 days try eating low calorie/low fat... I eat between 1200-1600 cals on my off days. I think alot of it has to do w/how heavy you are. I am 5'6/female & started at 300lbs & as of today (my 2nd day on the 3DD) am 271 lbs. :D If your smaller then it prolly is about 2-4 lbs a week that u lose, but thats still really good. Anywho, I just wanted to throw my experience & a diff perspective out there, I'm not saying urs is wrong, b/c everyones differnt. Keep up the good work & welcome to all the new dieters! |

MustLose, you are very inspiring, way to go! I've read a lot of reviews about the 3DD, it isn't doctor reccomended but people say it works. I have tried everything else to lose weight. Working out and eating right for 6 months, only cheating twice, and nothing changed, it's so disheartening. I do eat healthy regularly, but I think my body may need this low calorie "shock". I'm definitely going to try it for a month and see what happens. I should probably invest in a scale, but I hope to see the difference in the fit of my clothes!! |

Just a few comments about what I have read on some posts here. My doctor totally approved this diet. It has all the food groups and good fiber. However, this is called a 3-day diet because that is all you do at one time. It's 3 days on, 4 days off. You shouldn't keep going after the 3 days because your metabolism will slow down from the lack of calories and go into starvation mode, meaning weight loss will come to a halt. Eating normally on the four days off (I try to stay around 2000 calories) actually gets your metabolism back up again before it has a chance to slow down. Also, please don't weigh in more than once a week. You may actually gain a pound or two after your days off, which would be discouraging. If you only weigh in on the morning of your first day off, that's when you will see results. Then forget about it until the same day the following week. Also, this is not the best diet for someone who only needs to lose 10-20 pounds. You will gain it right back when you stop. This is a long-term diet for those who have a lot to lose. After that, it can maintain the weight loss for you. I lost 46 pounds a year ago with no exercise and now the diet keeps me from gaining it back. I started at 244 and am now under 200. I know if I start exercising, I can lose more, but I'm just thankful I can keep the weight from creeping back on. Hope this helps some of you. Good luck. |

It's my third day of my first week. I definitely feel a little different. I think I may buy a scale tonight so I can weigh myself in the morning.
Annie, why did you stop losing if you were still on the diet? Does the body adapt to it quite easily? 46 pounds is awesome though, way to go! I hope to lose 30 pounds by August or late July. I have a lot of hope(and will power) for this, as my body hasn't responded to anything else!! |

I love this diet. I have lost 5 pounds in 3 days and I'm thinking cause I'm PMSing. (BAD CRAMPS)The only problem that I have is drinking water and exercing. I have to force myself. On the 3rd day for supper u could eat esparagus. My friends dad is over weight and he's having heart surgury and the doc has esparagus on the diet plan. Today is my last day and the next four days I will just eat baked chicken and veggies. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

I need some motivation, how is everyone losing weight doing this except me? I don't cheat at all, so what's up? Has anyone taken a long time to lose any weight? This is my third week, I've lost 2 pounds in that time. Is it because I drank beer last weekend? |
