I am whole-heartedly sick and tired of inconsistent penalty calling in the NFL. I have been
an avid football fan for 25 years and lately its making me sick to watch these games. In
this modern era of football, almost every team is even top to bottom in talent. Players,
coaches, and fans all put alot of time and energy into their teams. It is simply a matter
of pride. In a contact sport of big men and bigger hits, why do certian players at certain
positions in certain situations get treated differently? Case in point: Warren sapp rushes
and brings down the quarterback, messing up the throw. Along the way, his helmet pops off
his head, in plain view of people watching from Mars. No flag. I thought that was illegal
hands to the face. Well, apparently, God must have reached down and plucked it off of him.
You could clearly see the blocker pop his facemask causing his helmet to come off. San
Diego. Eli manning throws a pass, its picked off and returned for a touchdown. The play
is called back because a lineman tried to knock the pass down but missed, and barely
brushed his hand on Eli's facemask. Personal foul. What? Hello? Whats wrong here? Any
other player at any other position, that would be a minor 5 yard penalty. Ok, I think its
time to put a dress on the quarterbacks. I understand. They ARE the MOST important player
for their respective teams. But just re-read what i said earlier and my point is proven.
People get hit, people get hurt, it happens. The league needs to grow up.
