Technorati is a relatively new service that indexes blogs, among other things. One of the key features is ability to enter your blog URL and find out who is linking to your blog. Though not widely known, Google also this ability, to find out who is linking to your web site. But there is a huge difference when it comes to the conversational web: speed. With Google, page indexing and link reporting can take anywhere from 30-60 days. With Technorati, this happens in as little as 15 minutes. This helps blogs truly become blogversations, public conversations between bloggers that can occur before the orginal post becomes boring, or just 'old news'. This blog, less than 24 hours old now, is a good example of this. In my first post (last night), I linked to Doc Searl's Weblog. Less than 12 hours later, Doc found my blog, thanks to Technorati. That is pretty powerful stuff. Technorati is really onto something here.
Thanks for the correction, David. I just timed it with my most recent post. Technorati states "Last updated 6 minutes ago". Damn, you guys are good! :)
