MyWallop - Microsoft blogging and social networking service

It seems like Microsoft has launched a beta version of a blogging and social networking service. There doesn't seem to be a lot of details, but I did find it mentioned in a few places. The most information seems to be in this Wired article:

In fact, Wallop is Microsoft's venture into the red-hot social-networking arena, using the common Microsoft tack of piecing together existing technologies and packaging them for the novice user. Those technologies include Friendster-style social-networking capabilities, super-simplistic blogging tools, moblogging, wikis and RSS feeds, all based on Microsoft's Instant Messenger functionality.

The most interesting part seems to be the focus on IM as the basis for the social networking service. Millions of "buddy lists" already exist as a form of social network - so building on that makes some sense. It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will be able to keep up with fast-paced innovations of more-open approaches to social networking and blogging.
